Film Courage: Was this always your definition of success?

Josh: Uh…no. When I was eighteen or nineteen years old first moving out here I had one of those vision boards. Remember when those were like a hit? And I had a vision board and I had like a Bentley on it and an Amex Black and it had a Breitling watch and it had bikini girls and it was so detached from reality of what is actually worth living for. Is it things? Is it things that validate you? I don’t know if that’s true. If you look at all of the rich people who are very miserable they would argue that is just their very existence. That is not true.

I think that people that are happiest in life they have a sense of purpose, they have a sense of value. Normally it’s earned value. So there are rich people that have earned value…like Bill Gates. He is probably one of the happiest, wealthiest people on the planet right now. Look at him, he’s got all this value, he’s given back, he’s making toilets that will work in India that run on nothing (solar-powered toilets) or something. That guy has nailed it.

We all can’t be Bill Gates but maybe…(Watch the video interview on Youtube here).
